i'll make a poll, too. for old time's sake. and i wonder if people still read the posts here. haha. probably a lot don't even use LJ anymore. sigh...

[Poll #2057652][Poll #2057652]

READ THE NEWS AT THE LINKS BELOW. THEY START FILMING THIS MONTH!
TOMA IS FINALLY IN A ROMANTIC MOVIE!! YESSSSSSSS. really cheered me up since the past few days have been horrible (THE election that the whole world is talking about). i've been waiting for him to have a real love story in a movie forever. though the last time he was it was too depressing and sad mostly (Bokura Ga Ita), but hopefully this one will be a lot happier. though it's the same director from bokura ga ita.
i don't have much to say about his co-star. she seems pretty and looks kinda like another actress that i can't remember the name of right now. hopefully she's a good actress. in pics, she looks 18 or maybe in her 20s depending on hair and makeup...
there are pictures of how she and toma will look in the movie at the link above. toma's character is 26, though. why did they make him look older and also kinda creepy/evil?? lol. some people at the arama news article saying it's creepy because in real life and in the manga they have a big age gap. toma is 32 and this actress is 18. in the manga, his character is 26 and she is 17. meh. i don't mind big age gaps (unless the guy is like the age of her dad) and teacher/student love stories. i like forbidden love. lol.

teacher/student love manga and movies seem popular in japan. it is in the united states too. though honestly, i don't see how those relationships would work out. such a big age gap. what would they have in common??
if you want to read the manga, go here: http://www.mangareader.net/sensei.
thanks to Ana for telling me toma will be in this movie. and she says she read this manga and liked it. :)

oh, wait. remember Honey and Clover? toma was 23 and riko was 16. or was she 15?? omg, SHE WAS 15!! (people talked about her being 15 here: http://www.d-addicts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=54862&start=405)
i remember them saying she couldn't be on certain tv shows or film past a certain time (or certain number of hours) because she was  not an adult yet. though she looks mature for her age and maybe seems more like 16/17, but still... i don't think it was creepy because she looked older than her real age but she was wearing doll-like dresses that made her seem very young so it still kind of bothered me. oh well. in the manga she definitely seemed like a child, so at least the drama version of her was better.
also, at the same tomania facebook link, they shared the trailer for the Mogura No Uta 2 movie! don't think i'll watch it though. ugh. too much screaming, weird faces, and crazy stuff going on... @__@ i think seeing toma making weird faces and screaming gets old fast. and WHY IS HE ALMOST NAKED AGAIN? it's really not that funny even the first time. nevermind the second time.

So, it's the real thing. It's funny how the Japanese culture focuses on this type of taboo. I wonder what's the appeal. I don't get it.

I know, he can spend less time filming and get more projects done in a year. I just miss seeing him in dramas.

I did finally get to see the trailer. It's the same as the first one in my opinion.

I think that's why I like Japan so much is because their culture is so different. It's so unique. There are, however, a few things that just make me ask, "WHY??" "WHY JAPANESE PEOPLE???"

japan's culture is a pretty cool mix of very traditional + ultra modern. but yeah, they are weird in a lot of ways that i'll never understand why. haha. maybe we would only understand if we actually grew up there. though i wouldn't want to live there for various reasons. but every country has its pros and cons...

I've been trying to get to live there for years but things in real life keep getting in the way. I hope I can go soon. They probably think we're weird. I'm sure they do. I'd like to hear about what they don't understand.

I currently live in MI, and I do plan on teaching english in japan in the near future. I just gotta work my way towards that goal. The only thing keeping me back is taking a CLEP test because I have ONE class holding my college diploma hostage. Lately, I've let things in real life become a priority and Japan has been on the back burner. I'd love to just pack my stuff and GO, but it's been a bit more complicated than that.

A lot of ppl have been talking about leaving the country after this election. I'm not one of those ppl, but it's just how things have played out. I probably could've gone to Japan years ago back in '08 if I stuck with that plan.
